Hello {Vintage} Deer

Just time for a quick post to share this vintage Christmas card. I have a thing for vintage deer; images or ceramic figurines, they all find a way to my heart and home.  Enjoy!

Vintage Christmas Card: Church Aglow

This vintage Christmas card is sprinkled with glitter and touches of metallic gold. I wish those features came through better for you online. It's a gorgeous card and that bright pink window is just so pretty.

I've recently been including the inside message to the blog posts about cards from my collection. The phrases are beautiful and perhaps you can use them in your holiday projects. I hope to go back into my previous posts where I've shared cards with you and add the messages as well.

I've posted the sender's signature for fun... you never know who may come across a relative's card some day. Be forewarned, I'm not parting with any of my cards, even if they were written by your dear grandmother. Each one was collected with care and I've become rather fond of them; just like your grandmother was when she picked them to send!

Inside message:
At this Christmas Season and throughout the New Year,
may you be be blessed with Every happiness.

Vintage Christmas Card {Pinecones in the Snow}

The colors on some of my vintage Christmas cards are still true after 50-60 years of life. How is that? The paper is so fine... smooth and of nice quality; perhaps it is because of this they hold their color so.

Simple cards like this grab my eye. The possibility of adding a bit of sparkle when I craft with them {copies of course!} catches my eye among the hundreds I must sift through at markets and sales each year.

Inside Message:

Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for your happiness now and through the coming year

Signed: Most Sincerely, Vernell and family

{Pretty} Pink Fireplace Vintage Christmas Card

Oh, this card is it... the perfect blend of holiday magic, precious pink and feminine style! What a treasure this was to find at the flea market.

I'm going to use it to make some Christmas cards to hand out at the office... glitter it up a bit and let all my fellow {female} co-workers share it's beauty. I always use copies of the vintage cards, never the original to make my handcrafted cards.

With holly in the hallway and the Christmas tree so bright,
May yours be the enchantment of a Christmas that's just right

Church in the Woods {Vintage Christmas Card}

Wouldn't this be a lovely church to attend? A pretty setting in the woods, with a tall steeple and arched door. Such a beautiful building among majestic pine trees.. what a wonderful place to find peace, within it's walls and within your heart.

Puppies and Presents {Vintage Christmas Card}

Here's a sweet vintage Christmas card from my collection featuring two puppies decked out in holly!

I love the sweet faces on the pups and the rich hues of the reds and greens. Somehow I'm thinking my foster puppy Rory, would not be so gentle around presents under the tree. He has found a forever home (so fast!) and will hopefully be with them on Thanksgiving.

Vintage Christmas Card {Silver Bells}

Here's a pretty simple vintage Christmas card, plain bells on a silver-gray background. Oh, how pretty it would be for crafting dressed up with some glitter!

I haven't yet heard Silver Bells, the classic Christmas songcomposed by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans this season, but it's only a matter of days. And guess what... I can't wait! I'm spending the afternoon cleaning windows to get them ready to sparkle when the Christmas lights go up and making way for the tree, which I'll put up in the days to come.

The season is upon us... enjoy!

Vintage Christmas Cards {Repurposed}

I have a great collection of beautiful vintage Christmas cards. I enjoy the hunt at flea markets and antique shops, looking for the images that catch my eye. Many times it's a deer, jolly Santa, cute puppy or pink or white Christmas tree that catches my eye. All of the cards have one thing in common--beautiful graphics and {still} gorgeous colors.

They don't print cards like they used to. I don't know if it is the paper or the inks, but the color on these cards is stunning. Many times a photo or scan of them to put online just doesn't do them justice.

Another hobby {it's a long list...} I have is making handmade greeting cards. One of my favorite techniques is to take the images from vintage greeting cards and use them in my new creations.

I had the pleasure of teaching a paper crafting class recently, and here are two of the cards we made using vintage greeting card images. (You can see a tutorial for of the paper rosette magnets we made HERE). The graphics add such a touch of whimsy to the cards. I always seem to add a touch of glitter to every card as well.

If you have a blog or Pinterest board that features vintage greeting cards or new cards you have made using vintage greeting card images... do share in a comment--I'd love to be inspired by your creations!

Vintage Christmas Cards... Pink Week!

The theme of the vintage Christmas cards I'll be posting this week from my collection is Pink. Today's card features a beautiful church with a pink Christmas tree in the foreground and pink light glowing in the windows. A couple in a sleigh (dressed in pink) hurries to get to church in time.

Although the photo doesn't do the glitter justice, the trees, star, church and path are all highlighted with bits of silver sparkles.

Inside flap message

and let the earth be glad."
Psalms 96:11

Greeting
May all the joy and gladness
of the

Vintage Christmas Cards {Bluebirds}

When I am flipping through vintage Christmas cards at an estate sale or flea market, one of the things that always catches my eye is a bluebird illustration.

Yep, cards like these always end up in my "buy" pile!

Hey Santa {Vintage Christmas Card}

For those of you who have  not visited this blog before, I have a huge collection of vintage Christmas cards. This particular Santa card has been shared in a group photo before, but never by itself  and never as a whole image. It's one of my favorite cards. His jolly face is just too sweet.

Yes, it's only September and I know I am jumping the gun on the holiday season. However, I know there are those of you out there planning for the holidays and crafters who are looking for holiday images all year long. I'll be featuring at least one Christmas card a week through the holidays, sometimes more. Check back often, or follow my blog here or on Facebook so you can see the latest posts.

I'll include the inside greeting for you as well. It reads:

Among the gifts that Santa brings
Here's something just for you:
A holiday filled with Christmas Cheer
And lots of gladness, too!
Merry Christmas!

Card is dated 1958 by the person who signed the card.

Enjoy the card. As always, these images are from my personal vintage card collection and are for your personal, non-commercial use. If you use the image on your blog, please include a link back to Very Merry Vintage Style.

Happy weekend!

Isn't this the sweetest little vintage Christmas card? It is one of my favorites from my collection. The tree is sprinkled with glitter--hopefully the image shows some of that detail. This image is high resolution so you can use it in your craft projects.

Angels Singing Carols in Christmas Stockings {Yep}

I never get tired of looking at vintage Christmas cards. The colors are so rich,  the illustrations are adorable and the subject matter always amuses me.

For instance, this card featuring angels in Christmas stockings, singing carols with mittens on. Too cute!  This is a high-res image so you may use it for your non-commercial personal use in crafts, etc... Enjoy!

Sweet Vintage Christmas Cards

I have two vintage Christmas Cards to share with you in this post. I haven't begun getting out the Christmas decorations, but my collection of vintage cards is always handy and the first thing I look through for some seasonal inspiration.

I have scanned these at 300 dpi, so they should be a good quality to use in your craft projects. It's always fun to share my collection for your personal use. You can find other cards I've shared in previous posts by clicking on the label links at the end of the post..

They both are beautiful cards and the snowman and angel card is over the top cute! I like the bell card too, it will work great for making tags and definitely is ready for you to add a bit of glitter!

Enjoy!
