A Few of My Favorite Things...

via Pinterest

Love this photo featuring two of my favorite things... vintage deer and Christmas cookies. The vintage china is pretty sweet, too. I know it's not even Halloween, but when inspiration strikes you have to capture it!

Vintage Deer & Bottle Brush Trees {A Tiny Vignette}

In my haste to get the last of the holiday decorations up, I decided to clear a spot on the bookcase for these little vintage deer. A set of three purchased at the flea market, they really can be used throughout the year and do reside in my office permanently. With a few bottle brush trees that were too large to join the other Christmas vignettes throughout my house, they make a nice little accent to the room.

I am busy wrapping, baking, cooking and most of all, waiting to bring my family together for Christmas!

Hello {Vintage} Deer

Just time for a quick post to share this vintage Christmas card. I have a thing for vintage deer; images or ceramic figurines, they all find a way to my heart and home.  Enjoy!

Vintage Christmas Cards {Repurposed}

I have a great collection of beautiful vintage Christmas cards. I enjoy the hunt at flea markets and antique shops, looking for the images that catch my eye. Many times it's a deer, jolly Santa, cute puppy or pink or white Christmas tree that catches my eye. All of the cards have one thing in common--beautiful graphics and {still} gorgeous colors.

They don't print cards like they used to. I don't know if it is the paper or the inks, but the color on these cards is stunning. Many times a photo or scan of them to put online just doesn't do them justice.

Another hobby {it's a long list...} I have is making handmade greeting cards. One of my favorite techniques is to take the images from vintage greeting cards and use them in my new creations.

I had the pleasure of teaching a paper crafting class recently, and here are two of the cards we made using vintage greeting card images. (You can see a tutorial for of the paper rosette magnets we made HERE). The graphics add such a touch of whimsy to the cards. I always seem to add a touch of glitter to every card as well.

If you have a blog or Pinterest board that features vintage greeting cards or new cards you have made using vintage greeting card images... do share in a comment--I'd love to be inspired by your creations!

Finding Deer {Vintage Cards}

I was looking through my collection of vintage cards and realized there are definitely a few themes. The top categories seem to be deer, puppies and just about anything Christmas. There are many others, but these are the largest collections.

I am going to try and take some time to scan more of them to share with you in the weeks ahead.  Here's one of the deer cards I think you'll like. How about that sweet little bird holding the card as a bonus?

Enjoy! As always, these are posted for your personal use in craft projects and are not to be redistributed on CDs or websites for commercial purposes.

Vintage Deer Illustrations {for you}

Some of my favorite vintage illustration subjects are deer. I have three sweet cards to share with you from my collection. They are all high resolution. The watermark is out of the way enough so that you may use these for your craft projects. This first one is so bright and the little bird is an added bonus!

The next one is a Christmas card. The original features a bit of glitter on the pine tree {love glitter}.

The last one is a French New Year's card. The translation for the greeting is Happy New Year.

In a stack of cards at the flea market or a tag sale, those with a cute deer on them always make it into my "buy" pile.

Enjoy!
