Crafts Made from Vintage Book Pages

Books... I love to read them, love to collect them, and when they are old and no one else wants them, I love to craft with them. They provide such a neutral base with their tiny black type on aged-white pages. They're inexpensive and easy to find.

I have an entire board on Pinterest of 40 vintage book craft ideas I've collected from the web. These are just a sampling.

You don't really need vintage books to work with, modern ones will work as well. The aged books that are a bit yellowed just add a nice bit of depth to the paper. This book wreath and vase were made as samples for a library program. If you want to make something similar just do a web search for the tutorials--there is quite a few out there.

How about this sweet little origami dress ornament from Folkhaven? The black glittered belt and silver thread add simple, shiny touches.

The Nester has a ton of ideas on her site, including these sweet drink or cupcake flags.

This beautiful set of wings is perhaps my favorite. So elegant with a rhinestone center and such a unique decoration for the wall, door or back of a chair. These are from Renaissance Soul. They are heavenly!

Have you made anything with book pages? Add a link to your comment if you've written a post about a craft like this or have seen a great idea online. I'm always looking to add more ideas to my Pinterest board.

Hello Peacock {Goodbye Jack-O-Lantern}

For some reason, I always seem to take down the Halloween decor really quickly. I have reverted back to basic fall touches in a few key spots in my home. This beautiful armoire is one of my favorite spots to decorate. For the next few weeks, it will sport "late fall slash peacock" style. I have been enamored with Peacock inspiration this fall; I have a Pinterest board devoted to it.

I think it's a nice addition to my fall decorations. The colors are so rich--a nice contrast to the warm oranges and yellows of fall.

A peacock feather added to my vase of pussy willows is so easy {with a new copper glittered fern giving nod to the coming holidays}. A clip-on bird in the same color family was another fun add on.

A clock from Home Goods that I've had for ages to add that essential bit of black that I love.

I've added a sprig of leaves for the touch of fall. The pretty ruffled knit throw was put there out of necessity when not being used. The goldens are way too interested in it and it's much safer up here.

They do look like little angels here but they do have their moments. One of their favorite indoor games is tug of war with an old baby blanket that Marley arrived with. Besides, I like how the throw looks up there!

Pinterest & Peacocks

I'm making the foray into some of the other social media... slowly. After I received my invitation to Pinterest, I've been having so much fun over there I haven't waded into the water too far on the other sites. I've started a few boards, one of which has to do with the peacock feather trend.

One of my favorite things about the web is the abundance of beautiful images at my fingertips. With Pinterest, I can collect them easily, and share them for the world (or maybe just you)  to see. That cape above? Over the top, definitely. Beautiful? Definitely!

I can dream about wearing these hair clips or the earrings below... and all with a click of the mouse... it's "pinned" to my virtual inspiration board.

I've been eyeing the feathers at Michael's and Hobby Lobby--haven't made my purchase yet though. I'll keep looking... and see what fabulous ideas I can capture on Pinterest!

Check out the parties I link to...
