Halloween Cards

These cards were created with paper I've had on hand for years. You can use a similar shade or style of paper and achieve your own unique design. I often use punches of various sizes to capture design elements from seasonal papers, and always follow up with swipes of Stickles glitter glue (it comes in a squeezable container for easy application) to add some sparkle.

Supplies to make these cards*

Cardstock Orange or Kraft or pre-cut and folded Kraft Cards and Envelopes I use a ton of these!
Tag punch (similar here)
Oval punch (similar here)
Lace Scallop punch (similar here and here)
Halloween paper (similar here and here and here and here!

It Takes a {Vintage Christmas Glitter House} Village...

.... to complete the Christmas decorating at my house. I can't believe I was thinking of not putting up the Putz {or glitter house} village this year. I must have forgotten how much I enjoy the sparkle on the roofs and trees, and the memories of how the houses were collected over the years.

Some of the houses are in pristine condition and others have windows that are shattered and chimneys that are missing {a tiny Grinch, perhaps?} A few have been altered with additional glitter {oops, couldn't help myself} and others have tiny stains.

This jolly fellow is the only elf in the village. He's quite small, but still about as big as the houses. Hopefully proportion doesn't matter with a display of vintage Christmas decorations; you have to use what you can find, right?

His face is a combination of cute and scary in that vintage decoration type of way.

The trees in this display have been collected over the years as well. This one has some tiny tinsel still attached from another year's display that included some modern touches. That's okay with me... the more sparkle, the better!

There is a mix of houses, some with brick accents and others just with glitter.

And then there is the tiny nativity {complete with plastic holy family} that sits amidst the tiniest of the houses on the top tier of my display. Some may think this old ornament is out of place, but for me it is the basis for this holiday, and even though it sits amongst the glitter and glam of my displays, it is truly the reason for the season, so why not?

Some of the houses are more rustic. I like the green and snow accents on the house above and the cheery red tree topper as well.

The trees on some of the houses almost look like bits of seaweed; I am not sure what they are made out of or why they were substituted for the tiny bottle brush trees on the other houses.

My favorite trees are those sporting a hefty dose of glitter {no surprise there}.

So the village is up, the pinecone elves {see this post} never did get more housing, and I even have enough houses for another housing project under my little white kitchen Christmas tree, which I will share in an upcoming post. Stay tuned by following this blog here or by liking my page on Facebook.

Fun at the Flea {Vintage Ceramic Christmas Tree}

This sweet vintage ceramic Christmas tree caught my eye at the flea market last weekend (and of course ended up coming home with me). I went to the market on the last day of the event. The vendor said many people had looked at the tree and passed it by.

Maybe it was the dust mixed in with the glitter, the little berry tree topper (below) that had come unglued, or the broken light fixture... all totally fixable. It was a great deal and will be perfect on my desk at work or maybe here at home, where it awaits repairs.

The flea market is so enjoyable to me because I can spend so little money, enjoy the sights of all the vintage treasures, and bring some little bits home to admire. And if I tire of them, I know that by donating them to Goodwill, they'll find another person to love them (for a little while).

Glitter House Christmas Village Display

I split up my Christmas glitter house display this year between two rooms. Double the enjoyment that way! Here's the first display...

These houses are my favorite element of holiday decor. The little village set up under a small white Christmas tree is so peaceful. Wouldn't you love a roof dusted with glitter?

A white blanket of snow surrounds them, and of course it's topped with bits of tinsel and sparkle to reflect the beauty of the holiday lights.

Santa is spotted between the houses, carrying a little tree. How does he travel so far with that huge belly?

The houses are rather simple. Most all of them spot a bit of glitter here and there.

A few of the village bottle brush trees are decorated with festive ornaments. Others are modern and heavily snow covered.

Such a charming place to visit, don't you think?

There he is again, that jolly elf. Such a look of holiday mischief on his face!

A few modern houses join the display. From the late 90s... how long until they'll be considered vintage as well?

Hope your little village is just as peaceful this time of year!

Little White Christmas {Glitter} Houses

Isn't this the sweetest little house? It's all dolled up in white paint and glitter {love glitter}.

I have two of these houses. My little vignette is a mix of modern and vintage pieces. The houses are modern and the bottle brush landscaping and wreaths are vintage.

It's a beautiful mix, this modern and vintage blend. The common element in both.... glitter {love glitter}!

Halloween Glitter Houses {Cute & Scary}

I have quite a large collection of vintage Christmas glitter houses {also called putz houses}. I have never made one myself, although I have quite a few blog friends {especially Robin from Happy at Home} who make fabulous reproductions. She also has a great tutorial on her site and links to house patterns if you'd like to try making your own!

I came across these cuties on some Etsy shops. This would be a nice fall craft to make, and I haven't really seen anything similar in local stores.

Check out this parade of reproduction vintage Halloween glitter homes!
