Decorating With Pink {Small Doses}

After many years of staying away from the color pink in my home decor, I have begun to embrace it's femininity and softness in small touches in my home.

This pink chair is one of a set. They were estate sale finds. They are in excellent condition, and are a nice spot to sit when I have a visitor. Especially in the winter, as they are right near the fireplace. I added the leopard print pillows from Home Goods for a bit of fun.

A small pink globe is another accent of this flirty color. Right next to a stacks of my favorite decorating books and a portrait of my son from his early years. Although my the "pinks" in my home are pale and rather subdued, perhaps I'll venture into the brighter shades as time goes by.

The pop of color, as in pink, really adds to the beauty of these mostly neutral rooms. Just one piece of furniture or a single pillow (below) can add something special to a room. I might have to find a pillow just like this for my bedroom. It's such an easy and inexpensive way to add the color.

I'm not quite brave enough to paint a room pink... just yet.

Easy Bedroom Updates {Vintage Style}

I am still in the process of a bedroom redecorating project, but here's a little peak at my progress.

This little makeover began with a rail from an old church. We had just put a king-size bed in the room and the old queen-size headboard wasn't going to work. When I saw the beautiful carvings on this piece I knew it would work well as a headboard. It was been painted... twice. First black... the color it remained for about a year, and then a very light beige-gray (because that's the two old wall colors I mixed to come up with enough paint for it!) as I decided I wanted to lighten up the room. I added a brown glaze to shab it up a bit and really show off the details. The photo below is of one of the sides.

Next came the vintage wall chandelier. Usually I am on the lookout for hanging chandeliers, but this one caught my eye as being quite unique and perfect to hang above my bed.

The final touch came from Home Goods. The neutral gray color and satin finish along with the tufting on this comforter and pillow set was perfect for the glamorous look I was going for!

The throw pillow was actually from another room. I wanted something to top it off and thought it would do. Can't beat shopping your house for accessories!

The next project will be painting the room. It's due for another update and it is definitely going to be a little lighter and kept neutral. Or... maybe I could put a dark color on the bed wall to accent it....???? Decisions, decisions!

Vintage Lamp {Renewed}

I just finished up rewiring this vintage lamp I picked up at a local church tag sale. I was amazed at how easy it is to replace the wiring. Using a $7 kit from WalMart, it was a matter of minutes before the lamp was safely rewired. The directions included in the kit were pretty easy to follow.

With a new shade from HomeGoods, my lamp looks better than new... because it's vintage! I've been scoping out lamps at area stores and nothing compares to this one. The graduated shapes and gold detail were what caught my eye.

I've put myself on forced hiatus from looking for the "next great find" until I finish all my projects in progress. One project down... many to go!

A Beautiful Bottle {That's Why I Bought It}

Packaging sells the product; for me especially. If there are several products to choose from, I'm definitely going to choose the pretty one!

While at HomeGoods this afternoon, I saw this gorgeous bottle of bubble bath. The color of the bubble bath is what caught my eye but the opportunity to be able to reuse such a pretty bottle is what made me buy it. It had this tassel on it as well. The tassel around the bottle is a little over the top for me but I am sure I can find a way to reuse it as well.

Even the type is gorgeous. The font is plain and simple... letting the bottle be the star. I'll enjoy using this purchase over and over again. It will be refilled with another bubble bath and become part of the functional decor in my master bath.

Have you ever bought anything for the packaging? This bottle was next to countless others, mostly plastic. It was definitely the star!
