Vintage Lamp {Renewed}

I just finished up rewiring this vintage lamp I picked up at a local church tag sale. I was amazed at how easy it is to replace the wiring. Using a $7 kit from WalMart, it was a matter of minutes before the lamp was safely rewired. The directions included in the kit were pretty easy to follow.

With a new shade from HomeGoods, my lamp looks better than new... because it's vintage! I've been scoping out lamps at area stores and nothing compares to this one. The graduated shapes and gold detail were what caught my eye.

I've put myself on forced hiatus from looking for the "next great find" until I finish all my projects in progress. One project down... many to go!

  1. Good idea, I have a few vintage lamps that I am afraid to walk away from if they are left turned on, but I am thinking now re-wiring. Thanks for sharing, Diane

  2. Love the lamp! I have always been too intimidated to attempt re-wiring. Maybe I'll give it a try. Have a nice weekend.

  7. Thank you for telling us about the rewiring kits at Wal-Mart! That's the only store around here and I have many lamps that need that done. I too buy vintage lanps but many are not safe to use so there they sit until now! Thank you so much! It's going on the Wal-Mart list right after I send this to you. Have a great weekend with your great looking lamp!

  8. Oh Mary, that is a gorgeous lamp! You did a great job fixing it up. I am hoping to do as well with a pair of painted porcelain lamps I just found too. One works but the other doesn't. I should fix both as they are really old! lol!
    I love projects like this, it give a real sense of satisfaction to bring something unused back into beautiful service.
    Hugs,

  9. I love lamps so much - unfortunately I just don't have any more good places to put any. I'm a new follower of your blog and will be coming back for your blog hop this week.
